double #33

English

SUMMARY

What role does religion play today? On the one hand secular sceptics only talk about it ironically and on the other hand there are many discussions on the return of religion: this edition of double asks what spiritual potential is possessed by an animated puppet. The articles explore the cultural traces of puppeteering that contain religious moments, examine the connection between religion and politics in the theatre, and ask how contemporary puppeteers deal with the theme of religious faith, either personally or intellectually.
